Toronto, Ontario – February 24, 2014 – Vida Cannabis Corp. (“Vida Cannabis”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Stocker to its board of directors. Dr. Stocker joins current directors J. Gregory Wilson, CEO, and Christine Fard, Chief Legal Counsel.
Michael Stocker, PhD, is an entrepreneur from Switzerland and a leading software, Internet and e-commerce specialist for Latin America. He has held executive positions in several companies, notably as Manager of FUNDES International, the leading business incubator in Latin America, as well as Regional Manager for PROPEL Colombia, a foundation to promote cleaner production technologies. Prior to his involvement in business promotion he worked for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), in its offices in Mexico, Spain and Switzerland, in connection with the development of business strategies and management structure for a number of worldwide active corporations and companies, among them several Fortune 500 companies.
The consulting and technology branch of his own company, the Stocker Group, founded in 2004, has offices in five countries and offers Risk and Knowledge Management to some of the world’s biggest international organizations, including the United Nations, the World Bank and several governments including the USA, Switzerland and several countries in Latin America. Since 2008 Dr. Stocker has initiated and invested in several ventures, among them a company he founded in 2010 (Medtechtrade) in the medical equipment sector, which offers second-hand medical equipment from hospitals in Europe to hospitals on all continents in need of such equipment. He is also a shareholder and investor in mining and real estate companies in Peru and Colombia, as well as CEO of US biotech company Biologix Hair Inc.
Dr. Stocker has been invited as a speaker to several international conferences and has previously been retained as an adviser and consultant by the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the government of Colombia, as well as several private companies.
Dr. Stocker holds a PhD in Economics from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and an MBA from the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS). He has lived and worked in Latin America, chiefly in Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica, since 1993.
